Summer Resolution

Good morning everyone,

A week with a lot of sunshine lies behind me, as well as 4 exams. Managerial Accounting aroused big fears but it actually was easier than thought. Let's hope that it will turn out to be fine. So, next week 5 other exams wait for me.
Obviously I am looking forward to Friday: start of summer holidays, end of exams, a big party, but also a goodbye. All of us leave for our internship after the summer which is why we won't see each other for over 6 months. After two semesters together this goodbye will probably hurt a little.

Beyond revising for the exams I commenced packing some stuff, enjoyed the sunshine outside, went to an Italian Restaurant with my flatmate and watched "Friends with benefits" as preparation for the English Exam during the last days. Yesterday I spent the whole day in the parc with friends - primarily to study together. In the end we just hung out and gossiped.

Last week I promised to show you a list of things I want to accomplish this summer. Here it is:
  • Celebrate my birthday in a park near the lake with family and friends while having picnic, tasting these delicious cupcakes and drinking some champagne.
  • Rent a boat for one day, enjoying the sun and the water
  • Learn how to drive a motor scooter and then driving through the vineyards
  • Ride through the Grand Canyon - on a horse like a cowboy
  • Buy a nice piece of jewelry or something else at a flea market because I have never gone to one
  • Play tennis after nearly three years of break
  • Think about a new camera in order to take high quality pictures
To finish today's post, check out the following video which I absolutely adore. The pictures, the music, the atmosphere - everything fits together. And I don't judge it that way because I am a Burberry fan, but I think that this creation raises the lust of summer.

PS: If you have any suggestions for the (idiotic) party's theme "Survivor of the end of the world", please let me know. I neither want to dress up as Lara Croft nor as Destiny's Child. What is your input?

Relocating, Mucking out and Studying

Good morning!

Believe it or not: Yesterday was the first time ever that I drank a cup of coffee. Since I am at university I had the feeling that coffee is part of the lifestyle, but for now I personally stay away from it. Either was my mixture not good enough or I am just not into coffee. I keep on trying a few more cups to find out.

Only two weeks left before I move out - how time is running! As I will move out pretty soon then, I feel that I absolutely need to catch up a few things before leaving.
Last Tuesday, for example, I went to a Mexican Restaurant to conclude a consulting project. Unbelievable that I haven't visited it before because food and cocktails were really good! The atmosphere was even better than in the other Mexican bar which we used to go to.
This raises the question whether I haven't missed a lot of things here in town within the last year.
Even if I have so, I won't be able to discover anything in the two weeks left - 4 of 9 exams are on the schedule for the upcoming week (amongst them Managerial Accounting. Yuck!). And I cannot say that I feel well prepared. It is more likely that I will face some night shifts... without coffee.

The second aspect is that I start packing all my stuff. But due to limited space in the car, I fear that not everything will fit into it. Therefore I plan to muck out my room, including clothes, papers, useless stuff. In terms of this idea, I show you a few items that I don't need anymore. If you would like to have an item, just send me a quick note and maybe we then can arrange something. Otherwise I will donate my clothes to a charity organization.
Orange woolen dress (H&M)
Shirts (grey, blue and brown) and sweatband (white)
Magazines in different languages
Red lamp shade, poster & golden picture frame
Stuff - will I ever need a step counter?
Mucking out means that I also have free space for new things. During the week, I thought about compiling a few resolutions I want to accomplish this summer. Do you envisage any plans? My ideas will be published here next week.

I wish you a pleasant Sunday. Enjoy it!

Ready for summer

Dear followers,

Happy Sunday! Important things should be named first: I. Have. An. Internship. Finally.
After a stressful week with ups and down (mainly downs due to a glacial speed of human resources departments), I can't tell you how relieved I am now.

Where? Vodafone Germany, Duesseldorf.
When? From August to January.
What? Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

Sunset/Duesseldorf
Having a look at these figures, it is imperative that I move to Duesseldorf of course. As my decision for this internship was also bonded to the city, I actually can't wait to go for this new location with great cultural and shopping opportunities. After my exams - in less than 2 weeks - I will concentrate on searching an apartment. If you have any helpful tips, please contact me or leave a comment.

Summer is soon arriving. To be in shape for sea and hot pants, I want to devote the post today to the bikini body. But to clarify straight away: I am no fan of diets! Therefore I just love too much to have dinners with friends and it would be a shame to miss those social nights of fun. However, I stick to two rules: sports and healthy food. Besides limiting alcohol, sweets and carbohydrates (often I can't resist), I walk whenever I can. But to strengthen muscels I do the following workout twice a day - in the morning and evening with motivating music:
  • 80 jumping jacks
  • 50 sit ups
  • 10 push ups
  • 1 min wall sit
  • 10 lunges per leg
  • 2x 1 min power plank

Gladly, I can fully concentrate on the exams now. I push everything into them because in three weeks I have three months of vacation. What an outlook!

Thank you for reading.

P.S. It is my mother's birthday on Thursday. Any idea for a proper present?

Maki

Good morning,
Recovered from last weekend and punctual on Sunday, I welcome you to my today's post.

Actually, I am a little terrified: Exams are in less than three weeks and I haven't started working yet. Beyond this stress, I still don't have an internship. It would be extremely annoying having an interview during the exams week. Hopefully upcoming week things can be arranged so that I can tick this task on my to-do-list.

There was only one highlight last week when I prepared my first sushis ever. My friend invited some other friends and me to accept the challenge and I must say that I was extremely positively surprised by the outcome. Not only that sushi-making is fun, but it was also delicious. Before, I always thought that it is complicated work but that is not the case at all. For all of you who want to meet the same experience, I found a great homepage where every step is explained well: How to make sushi.
Have a lot of fun!

That is all from today. Any wishes from your side what I should post about next week? Do you want more recipes, photos, fashion news? Just let me know!

Enjoy Sunday!

Tuesday 1 May 2012

Thank you, Mr. Businessman.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and can enjoy the week. As already announced last weekend, I couldn't manage to post on Sunday because I was on the International Business Weekend (IBWE).

This was about all our partner universities and 700 students who celebrated together. Beyond three good parties (with three extremely nice themes: Woodstock, Bavaria and Space Attack), we enjoyed the sun, did some sports, ate and drank and met new people from all over the world. For more details, I must disappoint you: what happens at IBWE, stays at IBWE :)
To sum up, it was a nice weekend, but I doubt that I will participate next year. I am just not that fit enough to party and drink three days in a row, additionally I am too wise for that.

Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Ireland, Poland, USA and France
Welcome

Do you remember all the gifts I got offered at the last business fair? Last week there was another one where my haul was quite successful.

Only a selection of what I "shopped"
Fortunately you can find a lot of things that I can actually use amongst my presents: bottle opener, lipstick, conditioner,...
Of course I haven't only grabbed the gifts and rushed away. This time the business fair was really useful for me to build up business relations for my internship. Apropos internship:
So far not too much news. A few more interviews and contacts but nothing concrete so far. I just need to control my impatience because there is actually nothing to worry about (at least not yet). Of course, it is easier said than done. Believe me.

Hope you stop by next week.
